PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the drive unit of a display device sharing a control board and the display device having the same. SOLUTION: The drive unit which drives the display device having a plurality of pixels is provided with: a data conversion part which selects output gradation on the basis of input gradation of input image data from the outside to transmit output gradation data having the output gradation; and a driving part for applying gradation voltage corresponding to the output gradation data from the data conversion part to pixels, wherein only the driving part is provided with a gradation voltage generation part. Furthermore, correspondence relation between the input gradation and the output gradation is made different between the one for positive polarity drive and the one for negative polarity drive.
