PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid high pressure from being abnormally increased without enlarging the capacity of a liquid receiving device 3 in a refrigerating cycle apparatus. SOLUTION: In the single operation state, an air conditioner ECU 10 determines whether or not the detected high pressure PH of a pressure sensor 9 is equal to or higher than a solenoid valve control pressure PH2 (step S100). The solenoid valve control pressure PH1 is set to a pressure value smaller than a high pressure cut operating pressure PH1. In this case, when the detected high pressure PH of the pressure sensor 9 is equal to or higher than the solenoid valve control pressure PH2, in the step S100, YES is determined, and the solenoid valve 6 is opened only for a fixed period. Therefore, a second expansion valve 7 is closed by a valve element according to a pressure difference between first and second pressure chambers and the spring force. As the valve is opened, a refrigerant flows from the liquid receiving device 3 through the solenoid valve 6 and the second expansion valve 7 into a second evaporator 8.
