摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control device for an internal combustion engine capable of appropriately inhibiting a torque step and a drop of catalyst temperature which can occur when combustion is changed over. SOLUTION: The combustion control device for the internal combustion engine executes bank control to make an exhaust emission control catalyst recover from poisoning by raising temperature thereof. The bank control means executes bank control by changing over air fuel ratio difference of two or more with using air fuel ratio difference of two or more set according to temperature raise demand of the exhaust emission control catalyst. The change over control means executes control for changing over combustion based on torque step which can occur if changeover of combustion is demanded. Concretely, changeover is immediately executed if the torque step is predicted to be less than a first predetermined value.
