PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the adherence of injected fuel on a piston crown surface as a liquid film when fuel is injected from a fuel injection valve having a plurality of injection holes in the vicinity of the top dead center of a piston. SOLUTION: Guide grooves 11, 12 guiding fuel sprays to the center side of a combustion chamber are formed with respect to the injection holes in which fuel sprays are collided with the piston crown surface at fuel injection timing at the top dead center of the piston, and at positions to which the fuel sprays are collided in the crown surface of the piston 10. The guide grooves are tilted toward the center side of the combustion chamber to guide the fuel spray to the obliquely upward, and their terminal ends form sharp edges. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
