PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber and a metal fitting used therefor, capable of effectively preventing plastic deformation of a loop part by generating stable frictional force, when diametrically contacting the loop part. SOLUTION: This shock absorber absorbs shock acting on a wire, and has a crossing metal fitting for forming the loop part in the wire and gripping a crossing part of crossing the mutual wires, when forming the loop part, and a stopper metal fitting installed in the loop part except for the crossing part, and is such that the crossing metal fitting is formed, by connecting a first gripping part and a second gripping part; and one wire of the crossing part is gripped by the first gripping part, and the other wire is gripped by the second gripping part, respectively individually; and wire gripping force of the first gripping part sand the second gripping part is set smaller than a wire gripping part of the stopper metal fitting.
