PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for detecting a defective dot pattern and correcting it. SOLUTION: The system comprises: an image data pattern detection circuit; a replacement bit pattern circuit; and a tag register. The image data pattern detection circuit has a comparator constituted such that: an image data bit stream part used for driving a print head in an inkjet printer is compared with a plurality of detection bit patterns; and in the case where the part corresponds to one of the detection bit patterns, a bit pattern detection signal is generated in response to the case. The replacement bit pattern circuit is constituted such that: a replacement bit pattern is generated; and the image data bit stream part corresponding to the one of the detection bit patterns is replaced with a replacement bit pattern different from the detected bit pattern. A tag register is constituted such that: it is coupled to the image data pattern detection circuit, and changes the comparison of the image data bit stream part and one of the detection bit patterns.
