PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-consumable electrode type welding method and equipment that, using a general-purpose single-configuration welding torch and using only an inert gas as a shielding gas required for welding, deepens a welding metal part without degrading a welding quality and that facilitates welding workability as well as enhancing welding efficiency. SOLUTION: A workpiece 4 is welded by making only an inert gas flow as a shielding gas for a welding torch 1 and by generating an arc between an electrode 3 and the workpiece 4. For this purpose, when X mm is the inner diameter of a nozzle 2a for making the shielding gas of the welding torch 1 flow and that Y liter/min is the flow rate of the shielding gas from this nozzle, the inner diameter of the nozzle 2a and the flow rate of the shielding gas are set so that the following expressions are satisfied: 6≤X≤12.5, 4≤Y, Y≥0.4X, Y≤-0.8X+17 and Y≤0.5X+4.
