Preparation of aminoaryl or aminoheteroaryl-boronic acid derivatives involves, converting an aminoarene or aminoheteroarene compound with a protecting-group carbonyl to form a protected aminoarene or aminoheteroarene compound, followed by with simultaneous or subsequent converting with a boronic compound to form a protected aminoaryl- or aminoheteroaryl-boronic compound (V), and removing the protective-group to convert compound (V) into the aminoaryl- or aminoheteroaryl-boronic compound. Preparation of aminoaryl- or aminoheteroaryl-boronic acid derivatives of formula (VI), (VIa) or (VIb) involves, converting an aminoarene or aminoheteroarene compound (I) with a protecting-group carbonyl compound R'-C(O)-R'' (II) to form a protected aminoarene or aminoheteroarene compound (III) followed by with simultaneous or subsequent converting with a boronic compound Y 3-B(Y 1)-Y 2(IV) to form a protected aminoaryl- or aminoheteroaryl-boronic compound (V), and removing the protective-group to convert compound (V) into the aminoaryl- or aminoheteroaryl-boronic compound (VI).
