Disclosed is an agent for prevention and treatment of acute renal failure which contains a hydantoin derivative represented by the general formula below as an active ingredient. Among such compounds, (2S,4S)-6-fluoro-2',5'-dioxospiro[chroman-4,4'-imidazolidine]-2-carboxamide is particularly preferable.
