The optical waveguide of which a part of a core is covered with the material layer, so there is no need to form a clad layer(under clad layer and over-clad layer, at least, one side). In the optical waveguide in which the core(3) which is the path of the light is formed in the top of the substrate. The optical waveguide wherein at least a part of core is covered with the metal layer(A). The bottom of the core is contacted with the metal layer formed in the substrate surface. The side and top of the core is covered with the metal layer. The core is formed to be contacted with the surface of under clad layer(4), and the side and top of the core is covered with the metal layer.
