In series with the emitter circuit of transistor 8 is the sourcedrain path of a field-effect transistor 12 of opposite conductivity type, the gate of which is connected to terminal 17. Battery 27 applies a D.C. voltage between the base of transistor 8 and drain of field-effect transistor 12. Pulses are generated by means of an inductor 26 connected across terminals 17, 18 and are rectified by means of Zener diode 28 and smoothing capacitor 29; the Zener diode also limits the amplitude of oscillation.
