1319912 Electro-depositing zinc; oxide TOYO KOHAN CO Ltd 23 July 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 34760/71 Heading C7B A surface of a steel sheet, degreased e.g. cathodically in NaOH solution, is electro-plated with a coloured zinc rich deposit comprising at least one oxide of Mo and/or W, the total Mo/W content being 0À05 to 2À0% by weight of the deposit, with or without at least one metal or compound (e.g. hydroxide) selected from Fe, Co, Ni, Sn and Pb, the total metal content being 0À5 to 15% by weight of the deposit, from an electrolytic bath containing at least one soluble Zn compound, e.g. sulphate, chloride, acetate and/or fluoborate, W and/or Mo compound, e.g. ammonium, sodium or potassium molybdate and or tungstate, and optionally one or more compounds of Fe, Co, Ni, Sn and Pb, e.g. Fe, Ni, Co or stannous sulphate or chloride, Fe, Ni, Co or Pb nitrate, Co, or Pb acetate; the bath may also contain Al and Na sulphate. The electro-plated steel sheet can be coated with paint, varnish or lacquer by roller, spray, knife, injection or electrostatic coating or laminating. |
