A cover 150 for a vibrating pad 10 is disabled following a single treatment so that it cannot subsequently be re-used. Preferably, there is communication between the vibrating apparatus and the cover: each may contain an induction loop or radio frequency tag or they may be coupled by a wire (figure 10). After a set period of time (or number of treatments) has elapsed the vibrating apparatus receives a signal to stop vibrating until a new cover is provided. The signal may be from a timer or result from a current spike breaking a fuse wire. Alternatively, the straps 146, 148 that secure the pad and cover to the patient's leg may incorporate a single use adhesive so that they must be cut to remove the pad, or so that the cover or strap tears rather than the adhesive bond failing. |
