<p>Appts. operates by the prolonged action of air, solar radiation and by bacteria. It comprises a circular tank above which an arm, supported at the centre of the tank, rotates concentrically; its other end bears on a circular rail on the periphery of the tank. In the new arrangement the arm rests on a concrete roller track around the tank through the intermediary of a chassis carrying axle-trees and elastic-tyred wheels. A rubber block between the arm and the chassis serves to distribute the forces on the wheels as uniformly as possible, in spite of any surface irregularities of the concrete. This new arrangement is much cheaper than a curved rail.</p> |
