An LNG carrier having unit for treating the boil-off gas generated in an LNG storage tank, and a method for treating boil-off gas in the same are provided to process an evaporating gas(BOG) generated from an LNG storage tank and a ship. A method for setting a safety valve provided at an upper portion of an LNG storage tank(10) installed in an LNG carrier for transporting LNG, wherein the set pressure of the safety valve during the loading of LNG differs from the set pressure of the safety valve during the voyage of the LNG carrier, and the set pressure of the safety valve during the voyage of the LNG carrier is higher than the set pressure of the safety valve during the loading of LNG. The set pressure of the safety valve is increased after the amount of LNG in the LNG storage tank is reduced by discharging LNG or boil-off gas generated in the LNG storage tank to the outside thereof.
