A virtual control apparatus for controlling a function of a remote image terminal and a method thereof are provided to control various functions of an image terminal remotely connected to a client terminal through a network. An input unit receives a command for controlling the function of an image terminal(10). A processing unit receives the command from the input unit, and processes the command correspondingly to a protocol suitable for the image terminal. The command processed by the processing unit is transmitted remotely to the image terminal through a communication unit of the client terminal(20).
