A vacuum cleaner is provided to attach/detach a dust collection unit to/from a cyclone unit while the dust in the dust collection unit is compressed with the same manipulation. The vacuum cleaner comprises a main body of the vacuum cleaner; the cyclone unit; the cyclone unit(20) which separates the dust from suction air and is mounted on the main body of vacuum cleaner; the dust collection unit(30) including a compression board(33) for compressing the dust; and a drive unit which operates the compression board with raising the dust collection unit in order to be detached/attached from/to the cyclone unit. The dust collection unit is in the lower part of the cyclone unit for detachment/attachment, and includes a dust and dirt collecting case in which cylinder typed dust collection space is formed and a axis member which is erected and installed according to a central axis of the dust collecting space.
