Provided is an isolated promoter capable of driving transcription in a seed-preferred manner, wherein the promoter comprises a specified sequence or a functional fragment thereof. Further provided are corresponding recombinant expression cassettes, plants stably transformed with the cassette, methods of producing such transgenic plants capable of the regulated expression of a cytokinin-modulating gene in developing seed.
