The system has passive radiofrequency identification transponders (5, 6) identifying a freight container (3) and a target place (2), respectively, where the transponder (5) is a disposable and flexible radiofrequency identification tag. A container handling device e.g. support frame (4), has a radiofrequency identification reading unit that activates the transponders and reads a radiofrequency identification signal that is emitted by the transponders. The unit is arranged on the device for reading the transponders, in a simultaneous manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for locating a container at a level of a target place in a storage area.
