发明名称 Improvements in and relating to methods of and apparatus for carburetting in connection with internal combustion engines
摘要 343,063. Spray carburetters. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Moore Inventions Corporation; Slater Building, Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Aug. 7, 1929, No. 24108. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] Fuel is introduced into the air stream on the engine side of the main throttle valve and the amount of fuel is controlled, directly or indirectly, by the pressure of the engine exhaust gas ; the fuel is lifted from a low-level tank and atomized by injector action of gas supplied from the combustion chambers. The gas is lead by a pipe 48 to a nozzle 28 which discharges at 32 into a choke tube 24 ; the suction thus produced draws liquid fuel up an annular passage 34 which is connected by a pipe line 60, 56, containing a liquid seal, to the fuel tank ; in the pipe line is included a gauze filter 74, and a needle valve 76 which is connected by a universal joint 80, to a large bellows 72 which is vented to atmosphere, or connected by a pipe 84, chamber 86, and pipe 90, to the carburetter air inlet adjacent the throttle valve 10. The exterior of the bellows is subjected to the exhaust gas pressure by connecting a chamber 70, in which it is mounted, by a pipe 96, containing a restriction 102, Fig. 1, and an enlargement 100 greater in volume than the space around the bellows, to the exhaust pipe 98 between the engine and the silencer; a spring 104, Fig. 3, modulates the effect of high exhaust pressure, play 107 putting it out of action at low pressure. Manual control of the fuel valve comprises a cam 108, having adjustable stops 114, 116, Fig. 4, and operated by a lever 119 either independently of, or conjointly with, the throttle valve lever 117, a shoulder 118a enabling the lever 117 to continue its motion after the cam 108 and the stop 116 are in contact. At small throttle openings, to reduce the fuel supply, the fuel is aerated in a chamber 64, Fig. 3, by air admitted through a passage 120 which is closed as the throttle is opened. When the engine is idling, a port 134 in the throttle valve provides the main air supply, and Fig. 6 shows a method of reducing the fuel supply; at starting a switch 146, preferably operated in conjunction with the ignition switch, is closed, and after the engine has warmed up the movement of the throttle lever 117 to its closed position closes a switch 148 and causes a solenoid 136 to be energized, and to attract an armature 140 on the bellows. Vaporizers, external.-A heating element in the induction manifold comprises a conical shell 75, Fig. 1, having heat radiating vanes and exhaust gas circulating pipes 75a, 75b. Specification 343,064 is referred to. Cylinders adapted to supply gas.-Cylinder gases are tapped by adjustable ball valves 40 and led through a manifold 42, piping 46,48 and a centrifugal separator 44 to the carburetter. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 11093/02, [Class 7, Air and gas engines].
