The method involves synchronizing in real time, a database (21) locally stored on a control terminal (20) with a remote database (14). An access authorization identifier to be verified is acquired by the terminal. The remote or local database is interrogated by the terminal to identify an access authorization i.e. ticket to be validated, whose unique authorization identifier corresponds to the identifier to be verified. Access is validated in case of success of the interrogation, and the interrogated database is updated in real time to indicate that the access authorization is validated. An independent claim is also included for a system for controlling access to an event or a service.
