A mask assembly (412) adapted to be positioned on the face of a patient for non-invasive positive pressure ventilation is disclosed. The mask has a frame (436) with rigid side portions (440) connected by flexible base (438) and apex (442) portions. The frame can be resiliently flexed about a longitudinal axis defined by the apex and base portions to accommodate the shape of the patient's face. A mask body (422) and a cushion are coupled to the frame, and a headgear comprising at least one strap is also secured to the frame.
