<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine a concentration of a ligand over a wide concentration region. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for determining the concentration of the ligand contained in a sample under inspection, at least a receptor 8 is fixed to a plurality of test locations 7 disposed on the surface of at least a support. The receptor is suitable for specifically binding the ligand if the receptor contacts the ligand. The sample contacts the test locations 7 for a preset period as diffusion volumes with different magnitude are adjacent to the receptor 8 within the sample, and at least a ligand is diffused from the diffusion volumes to the corresponding receptor 8 for the preset period.
