<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel filter which minimizes a risk of using an improper filter, and minimizes fuel leakage in replacing filters and inclusion of air to a fuel system. <P>SOLUTION: This is a filter assembly provided with a filter element and a filter head. The filter element is provided with an action projection supported in the housing and extending in a longitudinal direction, and a tap plate on a first end of the housing. The filter head is provided with a nipple housing a valve element engaging with the action projection of the filter element. The tap plate contains a tap plate opening attached to the nipple with a screw line, the tap plate opening being arranged at the center of the diameter with the action projection.
