PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic aperture radar device which is not affected by radio wave reflection characteristics due to the difference of the positional relation with an observation target with the movement of the synthetic aperture radar device. SOLUTION: The synthetic aperture radar device is provided with a transmission part (1) for simultaneously generating up-chirp pulse signals and down-chirp pulse signals; a vertically polarized antenna (5a) for transmitting either one of up-chirp pulse signals or down-chirp pulse signals; a horizontally polarized antenna (5b) for simultaneously transmitting the other signals with the one signals; a first up-chirp compression circuit (12a) for performing up-chirp compression on one signals received by the vertically polarized antenna and divided into two; a first down-chirp compression circuit (12b) for performing down-chirp compression on the other; a second up-chirp compression circuit (12c) for performing up-chirp compression on one signals received by the horizontally polarized antenna and divided into two; and a second down-chirp compression circuit (12c) for performing down-chirp compression on the other.
