<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus of a tandem system in which any image defect caused by talc adhering to the surface of the photoreceptor drums does not occur, while the wear of photoreceptor drums is reduced as far as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of the tandem system has an intermediate transfer belt 5 disposed along the respective photoreceptor drums 16. A first toner stored in a first developing device 19 which develops an electrostatic latent image formed on the first photoreceptor drum 16 located at the most upstream side in the rotating direction of the intermediate transfer belt 5, contains an abrasive compound.
