PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector which is advantageous for downsizing and superior in friction strength. SOLUTION: The electric connector comprises an insulator including a base and tongue plates formed so as to extend frontward from the base and a shield case which has conductive terminals installed on the tongue plates of the insulator, a top plate, a bottom plate, and side plates connecting the top plate and the bottom plate, and covers the insulator. Both ends of the tongue plates of the insulator and side walls of the shield case are separated for a prescribed distance, and a guide groove for guiding the insertion engagement of a mating connector is formed so as to surround it by both the end side walls of the tongue plates, and the top plate, the bottom plate, and the side plates of the shield case.
