PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration detector that corrects the output voltage level to complicated variation factors such as environmental condition of temperature or humidity and the length of a piezoelectric cable sensor, and has small variation in detection level. SOLUTION: This acceleration detector comprises a signal amplification circuit for amplifying the voltage between a core electrode of the piezoelectric cable sensor and an outer electrode, an A/D conversion circuit for A/D converting the output of the signal amplification circuit, a microcomputer for reading the output from the A/D conversion circuit and determining the acceleration level applied to the piezoelectric cable sensor, and an actuator for applying a predetermined acceleration to the piezoelectric cable sensor by a driving signal from the microcomputer. The acceleration detector drives the actuator with a predetermined time interval, and corrects the output when acceleration is applied to a detection section of the piezoelectric cable sensor based on the output voltage from the piezoelectric cable sensor generated by application of the acceleration to the piezoelectric cable sensor by the actuator.
