PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to efficiently reduce a peak-to-average power ratio in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing wireless communication system without signal distortion. CONSTITUTION: A comparator(210) compares a soft-clipping start point C with an amplitude of an OFDM signal s(t) from a parallel/series converter. When the amplitude of an OFDM signal s(t) is less than the soft-clipping start point C, the first operational amplifier(212) outputs the OFDM signal s(t). When the amplitude of an OFDM signal s(t) is equal to or greater than the soft-clipping start point C, the second operational amplifier(214) outputs the soft-clipping start point C. An adder(216) adds the soft-clipping start point C from the second operational amplifier(214) to the OFDM signal s(t) from the first operational amplifier(212) and outputs a soft-clipped signal Ssoft-clip(t). |
