The invention relates to the use of a polymerization inhibitor for stabilizing olefinically unsaturated monomers, the polymerization inhibitor comprising from 0 to 100% by weight of a compound of the formula (1) and from 100 to 0% by weight of a compound of the formula (2) and to a monomer composition, the monomer composition comprising a polymerization inhibitor which comprises from 0 to 100% by weight of a compound of the formula (1) and from 100 to 0% by weight of a compound of the formula (2), and comprises at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer.
