摘要 A hard disk drive, a method for controlling flying height of magnetic head thereof, and recording media for computer program for the method are provided to prevent weak write or head disk interference by maintaining the target flying height of the magnetic head. A method for controlling the flying height of a magnetic head of a hard disk drive, in which one end of the magnetic head is thermally expanded and protruded as FOD(Flying On Demand) power is applied to a heater equipped on the magnetic head, comprises the steps of: determining whether the difference between the flying height of the magnetic head which is measured by applying burn-in FOD power corresponding to the target flying height and the burn-in flying height corresponding to the burn-in FOD power, on a reference FOD power profile in which the relation between FOD power and the flying height of the magnetic head, exceeds a preset reference value(S11~S13); calculating corrective FOD power for the target flying height by executing a touch-down test of the magnetic head on a disk if the difference between the measured flying height and the burn-in flying height exceeds the reference value(S14,S15); and controlling the flying height of the magnetic head by applying the corrective FOD power(S16).
