<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display securing satisfactory animation visibility and realizing satisfactory display characteristics in both a transmission part and a reflection part. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a display panel DP, where pixels PX are disposed into a matrix shape, a light source BL illuminating the display panel, a first retardation plate RF1 disposed between one surface of the display panel and the light source and giving retardation to light, having a prescribed wavelength and a second retardation plate RF2 disposed on the other surface of the display panel, wherein each pixel is a transflective OCB liquid crystal pixel, having the reflection part PXr and the transmission part PXt which can be independently driven; and a cell gap dr of the reflection part is larger than 1/2 of a cell gap dt of the transmission part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
