PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic field generator for MRI, applicable to various magnetic field generators, and capable of preventing separation of permanent magnets constituting a permanent magnet group. SOLUTION: This magnetic field generator 10 for the MRI includes a pair of permanent magnet groups 14a and 14b. The pair of permanent magnetic groups 14a and 14b include a plurality of respectively mutually adhered permanent magnets 20, and are oppositely arranged by forming a void. The permanent magnet groups 14a and 14b have a projection part 18 projecting outward more than a contact part with magnetic pole pieces 16a and 16b. A collar-shaped member 34 is installed on an outer peripheral surface of the magnetic pole pieces 16a and 16b so as to cover a void side surface 18a of the projection part 18.
