The present invention relates to a stroker tool (1) for providing an axia l force (P) in an axial direction of a downhole tool. The stroker tool compr ises a pump (2), a driving unit (3) for driving the pump (2), and an axial f orce generator (4). The generator comprises an elongated piston housing (5) having a first (6) and a second (7) end, and a piston (8) provided on a shaf t (9), and the shaft penetrates the housing for transmitting the axial force to another tool (10). The piston is provided in the piston housing so that the shaft penetrates the piston and each end of the piston housing and divid es the housing into a first (11) and a second (12) chamber, and the first an d the second chamber are each fluidly connected to the pump via at least one duct (13) so that the pump can pump fluid into one chamber by sucking fluid from the other chamber for moving the piston within the housing, and thereb y moving the shaft back and forth.
