PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effective technology for precisely detecting information concerning rear seat occupants of vehicle rearward side seats.

SOLUTION: An occupant detection system 100 includes: a three-dimensional camera 112; first image information of an upper region of a seat back out of a vehicle rearward side seat region from three-dimensional images photographed by the three-dimensional camera 112; an information extraction processing part 151 for extracting only the first image information out of second image information except for the upper region of the seat back; a division processing part 152 for dividing the image information extracted by the information extraction processing part 151 concerning each seated region of a plurality of rear seat occupants seated on the vehicle rearward side seat; and an image conversion processing part 153, an image extraction part 154, an occupant information calculation part 155 and a determination processing part 156 for deriving information concerning the rear seat occupants seated on each seated region of the vehicle rearward side seat based on the rate of occupation information occupied on the two-dimensional images at a position separated in a regulation distance from the three-dimensional camera 112 on each of image information divided by the division processing part 152.
