<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of distributing laser beams to two objective lenses smoothly with a simple configuration, and to provide an optical disk drive incorporating the ptical pickup device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes a rotation mechanism for rotating a wavelength plate holder 13 around a laser optical axis in mechanical association with driving of a lens holder 41. The rotation mechanism positions the wavelength plate holder in a first rotation position when a collimator lens 22 is in a control operation position, and in a second rotation position when a collimator lens 17 is in a control operation position. By switching the rotation position of the wavelength plate holder 13 between the first and second rotation positions, a polarizing direction of a laser beam with respect to a polarized beam splitter 15 is changed, and the optical path of laser beams is changed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
