PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely playback data from the beginning thereof completely in playing back stored stream data. SOLUTION: Under control of a CPU 21, a video processing part 15 applies mute to a display part 17. A decoder 14 applies initial decoding processing to a video stream and outputs a video signal obtained by the decoding processing to the display part 17. Since mute has been applied to the display part 17, an image is not displayed. The video processing part 15 sets a parameter on the basis of attribute information acquired by the decoding processing. After completing the parameter setting, the decoding processing and the output of the video signal are stopped and the mute is released. After completing the parameter setting, the decoding of the decoder 14 is executed again and a decoded image is displayed on the display part 17.
