An interconnecting part (70) connects the planet carrier assembly part (26) of one planetary gear set (20) with the planet carrier assembly part (36) of the second gear set (30) and ring gear (44) of the third gear set (40). Six torque-transmitting devices (50,52,54-57) interconnect the gears and assembly parts of the gear sets with the transmission housing (60), input part (17) or other gears and assembly parts of the gear sets. The six devices are engaged in combinations of three to establish eight forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio between the input part and output part (19).
