PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software update method of a thin client terminal which enables automatically update of software installed in the terminal while securing safety in a security aspect. SOLUTION: The method enables the terminal to automatically update software installed in the terminal. When updating software, the terminal enters the update mode. When in the update mode, the terminal, does not demand logon processing by a user upon terminal restarting, continues update processing by automatic logon by an account for update only, and returns to the normal state by releasing the update mode after completing update processing.
