PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of providing a directory tagging service and a system which performs this method. SOLUTION: The method for providing the directory tagging service includes a step of extracting a predetermined number of words from a web page in present frequency order, a step of using an extracted word and generating and maintaining a tag list of web pages, a step of providing the tag list to the user accessing the web and checking a tag chosen from a user, and a step of saving and maintaining the selected tag in a tag database through association with the web page.
