PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and a program, for precisely specifying a region as the object of the recognition of a character string in an image generated by reading an original while validly utilizing data in which the region as the object of the recognition of the character string is shown by coordinates. SOLUTION: On the basis of image layout data generated by analyzing the layout of a reading image region in an image generated by reading an original including a reading region and reference layout data generated from reference region data 44 in which a recognition object reference region 46 are shown by coordinates stored in a storage means, a recognition object image region whose relative position is made to correspond to the recognition object reference region 46 is specified from among the read image regions.
