A washing machine and a pedestal for the same are provided to enhance the connection of the washing machine and the pedestal and to reduce the vibration and noise generated in the operation of the washing machine. A pedestal(200) of a washing machine comprises a housing(210) on which the washing machine is put, and a protrusion(220) which is protruded on the housing fit into an opening or groove formed on the lower part of the washing machine. The protrusion protruded on the pedestal is inserted to the opening or groove formed on a base of the washing machine in order to prevent the slip of the washing machine on the pedestal in case of transporting the washing machine, or a leg(160) of the washing machine is mounted to the opening or groove.
