A camera for a CCTV with a self diagnostic function is provided to detect whether a horizontal synchronization signal included in a video signal outputted from the camera for a CCTV exists, thereby performing self-diagnostic about whether a malfunction is generated about a camera operation state for a CCTV. Operating voltage and variable power are supplied in a power supply unit(1) provided with the power source from the outside. The variable power lights a light emitting diode. The power source of a battery(2) supplies the power source for the self-diagnostics to the power supply unit while the power source of the battery passes through a DC/DC converter(3). A microprocessor(4) performs the self-diagnosis function with a test switch while being provided with the operating voltage. The microprocessor controls the operation according to the functions of the lighting of the light emitting diode and self-diagnostics. The synchronizing signal detector receives a video signal outputted from a camera(6). A detection unit(7) determines the normal condition of a camera while the detection unit detects a horizontal synchronization signal and transmits the horizontal synchronization signal to the microprocessor.
