PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method, an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge by which residual potential rise due to repeated use is suppressed, while reducing residual potential, and by which first-round charge deterioration can be suppressed, without producing adverse effects on the electrostatic characteristics or the image quality. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a real transit time T1 and a charging time T2 satisfy the relation of expression (1): T1≤T2, wherein the real transit time T1 is defined as a first flection point, where when the time between exposing an image carrier and measuring the potential of the exposed portion thereof with a surface electrometer is shortened and is plotted with respect to the potential of the exposed portion, the potential of the exposed portion first rises; and the charging time T2 is defined by expression (2): T2=(charging width of a charging means)/(linear velocity of the image carrier).
