PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite powder for cosmetic use prepared by treating the surface of a clay mineral by aluminum hydroxide. SOLUTION: The composite powder comprises a clay mineral and aluminum hydroxide adhering to the surface of the clay mineral, wherein, the adhered aluminum hydroxide contains a lot of aluminum hydroxide particle (a particle-shaped material) having a shape of a covered cup and adheres to the surface of the clay mineral by the base of the cup, and a cosmetic prepared by using a composite powder containing the adhered aluminum hydroxide particle in an amount of at least 30 wt.% against the total adhered aluminum hydroxide exhibits such excellent effects as lesser color dullness, good transparent feeling, and bright finishing in flesh color. The above-described effects are made even higher by covering further the surface of the composite by a layer of aluminum hydroxide or by treating the surface by silicone. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
