PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin excellent in transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a polyester resin having constant intrinsic viscosity, melt viscosity, mol.wt. distribution, glass transition temperature, and crystallization heat generation peak on temperature-falling, obtained by polycondensing a glycol component comprising 5 to 60 mol% of a spiroglycol having a cyclic acetal skeleton of structural formula (1) and 30 to 95 mol% of ethylene glycol with a dicarboxylic acid component containing 80 to 100 mol% of terephthalic acid and/or its ester.
