<p>Process comprises (1) extn. of the dried or fresh green leaves with an aq. ketone or lower alkanol at 40-100 degrees (2) extn. of this ext. with a water-immiscible, lipophilic solvent at 15-50 degrees (3) treating the aq. ext. with (NH4)2SO4 (I) and extg. with MEK (4) evapg. the MEK ext., diluting with an opt. aq. lower alkanol and treating this soln. either (5) with a Pb cpd., pref. freshly prepd. Pb hydroxide, discarding the ppte. concentrating the alcohol soln. addn. of (I) and extn. with MEK to give an alcohol-MEK phase, addn. of (I), removal of water and concn. of the alcohol-MEK after drying or (6) with a powdered high mol. wt. polyamide, pref. Nylon 6, filtn. and conc. (7) dissolving the residue from (5) or (6) in EtOH, filtn. and concn. The product is used for treating impaired peripheral circulation, intermittent claudication and vascular disorders, and can be used by injection or perfusion.</p> |
