GLASS POLARIZER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

<p>A glass polarizer which is produced from a silver-halide-containing glass as a starting material and is excellent in transmittance and extinction ratio for lights in the visible light region including blue. Also provided is a process for producing the glass polarizer, characterized by heat-treating a borosilicate glass to dispersedly precipitate silver halide particles therein, reducing the glass to convert at least part of the silver halide into silver metal particles, and then stretching the resultant glass with heating to thereby form oriented and elongated silver metal particles in the glass.</p>
