The invention relates to medicaments for treating and prophylaxis of locomotor apparatus diseases, in particular, to degenerative-dystrophic diseases of joints and backbone and can be used as a preparation normalizing metabolism in bone and cartilaginous tissues. There proposed a pharmaceutical composition normalizing metabolism in bone and cartilaginous tissues comprising an effective amount of alanyl-glutamyl-asparatic acid peptide as an active compound of general formula: H-Ala-Glu-Asp-OH [SEQ ID NO:1] and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. There proposed alanyl-glutamyl-asparatic acid peptide as an active compound of general formula: H-Ala-Glu-Asp-OH [SEQ ID NO:1] exhibiting a biologic activity being expressed in normalizing metabolism in bone and cartilaginous tissues. A method is proposed for prophylaxis and treatment of locomotor apparatus diseases by normalizing metabolism in bone and cartilaginous tissues, comprising administering a patient the pharmaceutical composition of alanyl-glutamyl-asparatic acid peptide as an active compound of general formula: H-Ala-Glu-Asp-OH [SEQ ID NO:1] dosed 0.01-100 mkg/kg, at least, once a day during a period of time sufficient to achieve a therapeutic effect.
