PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter having a secure rustproof effect over a long term with a simple structure by focusing attention on structural characteristics of a vertical inlet/outlet type gas meter. SOLUTION: A gas meter cover 1 is mounted to this gas meter such that a gas inlet part 20a and a gas outlet part 20b are inserted into a pair of hole parts 11a and 11b, respectively. Joint members 5a, 6a and 5b, 6b corresponding to the gas inlet part 20a and the gas outlet part 20b, respectively, are connected to the gas inlet part 20a and the gas outlet part 20b, respectively. Thin-plate ring-like packing members 8a and 8b having inner diameters slightly larger than the outer diameters of the gas inlet part 20a and the gas outlet part 20b, outer diameters larger than the inner diameters of the hole parts 11a and 11b, and elasticity are interposed between the joint members 5a, 6a and 5b, 6b and the gas meter cover 1, respectively.
